The WHO AWaRe (Access, Watch, Reserve) antibiotic book (2022) is guidance by the World Health Organization on if, when and how to choose an antibiotic.[1] It covers common infections in both children and adults, in both primary care and hospital settings.[1] How to administer the antibiotic, doses, and duration are also included.[1] It also contains instruction on how to provide relief of symptoms without prescribing antibiotics.[1]
The book is an aid to the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines, Essential Medicines for Children, and WHO AWaRe classification of antibiotics.[1]
