On the morning of 14 June 2023, a shooting occurred at a military training center in Gifu, Gifu Prefecture, central Japan.[1] A cadet allegedly opened fire on his colleagues during a live-fire training exercise, resulting in the deaths of two people and the injury of a third. The 18-year-old suspect was arrested and the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.[2][3][4]
